Sustainable Alamance

The mission of Sustainable Alamance is to promote the wise use of all resources, natural, economic and human to build a stronger and more sustainable community.

Sustainable Alamance was started in 2007 by Phil Bowers to expand the sustainable community dialog beyond windmills, solar panels and biofuels to include the human resource. He saw that men in the community with a criminal history are historically shut out of participating in the local job market and economy. Even though Sustainable Alamance is a 501(3)(C) non-profit, Phil felt the call to ministry and was ordained under the Greater Love Affiliate Ministry in the summer of 2010. He is married to Martha Lynn and they have a daughter, Emily.

Foundational Scripture: "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come! All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: the God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting men's sins against them. And He has committed to us the message of reconciliation." 2 Cor. 5:17-19
